Don't Just Survive Your Life, Thrive In It

Let me introduce myself to you, my name is Jacqueline Weiner, Jacqui for short. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with a specialization in couples therapy and trauma therapy. I believe therapy is something that happens with you, not to you. My style is one that is collaborative, transparent, interactive, patient, compassionate, insight oriented, emotionally focused and strength-based. I have experience working with all ages, including families with children as young as 5 and the elderly population.

I provide a supportive therapeutic environment to help create, achieve and maintain your goals. Together we can learn and understand about how to improve your life and your relationships.

"You don't have to be responsible for someone's feelings to acknowledge them."

Video Therapy

With health and wellness being a top priority in the world right now, chance are you've heard of video therapy (tele-health or tele-mental health) by now. Video therapy has been shown to be just as effective, if not more effective than in person therapy. With video therapy, your home can be your safe space, and your pets can be your therapy animal. Cozy up with a blanket and stay safe in your home while you heal from what has happened to you.

Couples Therapy

Chances are, if you are struggling in your relationship, therapy is not the first thing you have tried.. It’s also likely that one of you is more interested in being in therapy than the other. With years of couple counseling experience, I appreciate the delicate balance of being a third party in a room with two people who have been romantically involved.

Trauma & Abuse

Survivors of trauma have unique experiences of self-blame, shame, and guilt that outsiders don’t seem to understand. People may tell you that it wasn’t your fault. No matter the circumstances, abuse is never your fault. But it may feel impossible for you to believe that.

Anxiety

Well-meaning friends and family think they are helping by telling you to just calm down and quit making a big deal about everything. They don’t understand that you can’t help it and if you could relax, you would! Anxiety is a terrible experience to live with, and life doesn’t have to be this way

Depression

Maybe this has happened as the result of the loss of a loved one, and people are telling you it’s normal. Perhaps it’s something you have been experiencing your whole life, and you thought it was normal. Whatever the case may be, the time to treat your depression is NOW.

LGBTQIA+

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer individuals have unique challenges related to their sexual minority identities. Despite the dawn of nationally recognized marriage equality, there remain a number of battles for LGBTQIA+ individuals that may contribute to stress, depression and anxiety.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why see a therapist when I can just talk to a friend?

The simple answer is that with a friendship, there is an expected give and take, where you are expected to be there and hold your friend’s pain if you expect them to be there for you in a similar manner. With a therapist, the time we spend together is all about you.

How long will therapy take?

Sessions are 50 minutes, which is the industry standard. Most people find that in order to find therapy useful, coming for at least 8-10 sessions is necessary. Some people come to therapy for a year or longer, while others come for a few months, and return as needed for follow-up visits at different points in their life.

Will my insurance cover therapy?

I accept many major insurance companies to provide services to as many clients as possible. I also accept clients wanting to be reimburse by their insurance company for their out of network benefits. Please see my insurance page for a list of all insurances I am in network with.

What is your cancellation/reschedule policy?

Appointments must be cancelled or reschedule with 24 hours notice prior to the scheduled appointment time. There is fee for a late cancellation or non-attended (no show) appointments. Insurance companies do not pay for missed appointments.
